Brenda Beineke Phillips, Feb 2020 Pen Pals were my hobby and main focus when I was a teenager. I made some great friends, actually met one of them in person, and have a Facebook friend who used to be a pen pal all those years ago. We passed along "friendship books" to each other in which pen pals who wanted more pen pals had added their names and addresses.

Sara Fitton, Feb 2020 Lovely art! When I started secondary school, we were all told to sign up to the IYS penpal scheme to help us learn a foreign language. I wanted to learn Swedish and had been bitterly disappointed to find out I couldn't do that until sixth form, so I asked for a Swedish pen friend so I could practice and learn on my own. Johan and I are still friends after all these years, and talk via Facebook now. Thank you for the gifts! xxx

I did have pen pals when i was in primary school from Trinidad n Tobago, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia
Unfortunately we’d lost touch towards the end of my high school days... wished we were still keeping in touch...
